((OOC: For those who don't know Rick's staff, here are pics with names and abilities, and links to each hero will be put in their names since costumes vary constantly.))
((P.S. OOC: Sorry for the delay on this, fic idea came on Halloween and work ate most of my time that day, after that it got stubborn. Also, be gentle, wasn't able to really have it proof read before posting.))
Even though it was Halloween, Rick hadn't planned to do much today, probably just go home after work and be a 26 year-old man for the rest of the day. It's not that he was against Halloween, he just didn't feel like going out, especially without anything to do. What he didn't know, is that his employees had other plans for him.
Walking out of his personal office, he went into the main area where all his employees were currently sitting doing their various work. "Okay guys, I'm going to call it a night. See you all tomorrow." He says, not very much into the holiday at the moment.
"Hold up there, Rick." Rebecca said, moving to stop him, soon joined by the rest of his staff.
Jake moves to stand next to Rebecca, putting an arm around her, "We think you need to go out and have some fun, so we all decided we'd celebrate Halloween together, group costume and all. We just need to get you in yours."
Giving them a look, he notices how none of them are in costume at the moment, just their normal clothes that they came in with. "And what are you all going as? People from some office sitcom?"
Several of his employees grinned a bit at that question, with the most nerve-inducing one being from Jenny, who Rick had learned usually was a source of trouble in one sense or another. After a second or two, Jenny turned to look to Rebecca, and asked "Now?" upon getting a nod from the red head, she says something Rick never would have thought her to say. "Semutsoc raeppa no su won!" and with the finishing of that sentence, she throws a hand up into the air, and snaps her fingers once it's up, causing a bright light to appear for a second. Once the light faded, all of Rick's staff was in costume, and apparently they decided on a theme, one which they knew Rick would like, The Justice League.
Looking them over, Rick was able to tell who was dressed as what on sight, Rebecca was Wonder Woman and Jake was Batman, both going with the more modern and recent version of their heroes costumes, Rebecca's costume was leather pants and jacket than covered more along with her hair changed to black, and Jake's being the black and grey version more recently seen. Joe, being the example of the All-American man that he was, had went with a Superman costume, opting for the standard appearance that everyone would know and love. The rest of the staff, however were wearing costumes that the average person probably wouldn't know. Anne currently was wearing a Hawkgirl costume, complete with wings and mace, while Greg went with the Ted Kord version of Blue Beetle. Rounding out the group Leo had decided to go with a hero that had an ego that matched his, dressing as Booster Gold, and Jenny was currently dressed as Zatanna, complete with the top hat, magician's jacket, and fishnet stockings.
"Wow," Rick said, stunned by the sudden appearance of costumes, "are those... " he doesn't finish his sentence, already walking over to Jake, feeling his costume. While it seemed as real as any costume could be, Rick knew with Jenny's ability, it was very likely it was all just an illusion.
"Yes, they're real." Jake told him, speaking in the Batman voice as he pushes Rick's hand away. "Jenny was covering them while we were around you."
"Aww, Jake!" Jenny whined, already pouting some, "I thought..."
Jake cut her off, "I'm Batman."
"Jake..." Rebecca said, taking her arm off of him, and turning to give him a somewhat stern look.
"Batman." he replied back, stern in his tone.
Rebecca just gave him a look as Jenny sighed and turned back to Rick, "I thought we were going to try and convince you I actually got magical abilities to go with the costume, but apparently some people AREN'T FUN!" She shouted the last part of her sentence at Jake.
Laughing a bit at Jenny's response, Rick decides to ask the questions on his mind, "Okay, 1) Why the Justice League? and 2) Why do the whole dramatic reveal?"
Greg's hand shoots up, before pointing to himself, "I'll answer this." He says, looking around to everyone before looking back to Rick, "We figured a group theme would be easier to plan for, and Justice League fell into the categories of things you'd want to do, as well as having enough options for us to do as well as be fitting at least in some cases. Leo seemed fitting for Booster Gold due to his belief he is in fact the best there is at most things, me and Blue Beetle due to Ted Kord's technical genius, Joe and his All-American appearance, and Jenny... well, we had to get her to stick to one, and thus, Zatanna."
Jenny gives Greg a look before crossing her arms with a huff, "It's not my fault so many super-heroines have costumes that'd I'd look good in.... Anyway, can we please get going, this is getting boring."
"Well, there is one more thing." Rebecca says, stepping away from the group to go to her desk, opening up a picture on her screen as well as getting something out of her desk. Turning the screen around to face Rick, she shows him a drawing of him in a Green Lantern costume, comic version, not movie version, that'd fit the cosplay like feel of all the other costumes. "This is why we did the dramatic reveal, because we know it'd make you feel comfortable doing it when you made your costume." she added, walking over to him, handing him a plastic Green Lantern ring.
"You realize I don't need to ..." Rick started to deny before realizing no one there believed him, "Okay, okay, I get it. I can be dramatic sometimes." And he pauses again, seeing the looks hold, "Okay, a good amount of the time." Putting the ring given to him on, he closes his fist and points it at the screen. "In Brightest Day, In Blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's Light!" And as he finishes the oath, he focuses on the costume, until it completely replaces his current clothes, with the mask being the last part to appear on him.
"Okay, we ready to go? These wings weren't made for comfort apparently." Anne said, before reaching back to try and adjust them a bit.
"Yeah, just let me do one thing, and I'll meet you all downstairs, okay?" Rick says, leaving to his apartment as everyone else went downstairs.
